Brazil dominates Ivory Coast in 3-1 win !! Brasil e Costa do Marfim!! Gol de arte de Luis Fabiano!!

Brazil quieted critics with a dominant 3-1 win over Ivory Coast led by two Luis Fabiano goals. Brazil qualified to the Round of 16 with the win. The game ended in an awful manners as both teams began to fight on the field as the African team became frustrated, culminating with Kaka being ejected for a fantom hit on an Ivorian player in the dying minutes of the game. Both the Ivory Coast and Brazil came out to a tight start showing support for their opponents.

While Brazil seemed to have more clarity in play at the beginning of the match, the game remained balanced.

Luis Fabiano gave the Brazilians the lead in the 24th minute with a dynamite shot from the right side that the goalie Boubacar Barry could not react in time to stop.

The Ivorian team had a hard time reacting after the goal, and Brazil had more chances to increase the lead rather than worry about a tie by the African team.

The game got increasingly violent as time progressed, exacerbated by the official"s soft cards.

Luis Fabiano got his second goal of the game in the 50th minute when he clumsily brought the ball down in the box amongst three Ivorian defenders and bounced it to the right of the goal.

Fabiano clearly used his hand to bring down the ball but no call came from the official, and surprisingly no Ivorian players complained about the call.

In the 53th minute Drogba had a strong header when he beat the Brazilian defense but he heads it just wide of the right post.

Kaka gets a shot off inside the box off a pass by Robinho which he shoots straight at the hands of Barry who clears it.

Elano gets a perfect pass in the box from Kaka that he finishes perfectly to the right post in one touch in the 62nd minute to put Brazil up 3-0.

Ivory Coast became the first African nation to score against Brazil off a Drogba header in the 78th minute off an amazing cross by Romaric.

The game fell apart at the end as tussles began within the two teams as the game diminished into pushes and shoves as the official completely lost control of the game.

Kaka was ejected for a fantom hit on an Ivorian player who writhes inexplicably on the floor. Both teams lost all respect for each other by the end of the match.

Brazil now takes a commanding lead of Group G while Ivory Coast and Portugal will have a tight battle for the second spot.

Soccer: Brazil struggle past North Korea !Brazil se esforça contra Coréia do Norte!

JOHANNESBURG - Maicon and Elano scored a goal each as Brazil broke through a solid North Korean defence to win their opening World Cup match 2-1 today.

Brazil escaped with a hard-fought victory in the Group G match after struggling to get past the defensive setup of the North Koreans, who are making their first World Cup appearance in 44 years and arrived as the tournament's lowest-ranked team.

The opener is always harder," Dunga said. "There is the anxiety, the players are more nervous than usual, trying to do too much. But we are satisfied."

Maicon scored at Ellis Park after a through ball from midfielder Elano in the 55th minute, making a run on the right side and shooting into the far corner from a tight angle as North Korea goalkeeper Ri Myong Guk went for the cross.

Elano then added to the lead in the 72nd after a well-timed pass from Robinho, finding the net with a one-timer from inside the area.

Ji Yum Nam pulled one back for North Korea in the 89th.

The victory gives Brazil first place in the group after Portugal and the Ivory Coast drew 0-0 in their opener earlier Tuesday.

"It is important to start with a victory and we did it," Maicon said. "It was a good step toward our goal of being in the final on July 11."

Brazil controlled possession from the start but struggled to break through the Korean lineup with five men at the back. Robinho was about the only Brazilian able to create some dangerous opportunities.

He took advantage of his nifty skills to give Brazil its first chance just two minutes into the match, using a stepover move to clear a defender and set up Kaka inside the area, but the playmaker failed to get a shot off as North Korea's An Yong Hak stole the ball.

Robinho had his own chance with a long-range shot that missed the target in the seventh and with a quick strike from inside the penalty area that was saved by Ri in the 20th. Robinho cleared a defender again inside the area in the 34th and set up Michel Bastos' shot that missed over the crossbar.

The defensive-minded North Koreans played with only Japan-based Jong Tae Se in attack, but he was able to cause some problems to the Brazilian defence. He got past three defenders in the 12th but his weak shot was easily saved by Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

The Koreans also had chances with a few long-range shots, but Cha Jong Hyok missed the target in the 17th and Ri Kwang Chon missed in the 32nd.

Brazil continued to dominate in the second half but still without enough poise to break through the Korean defence.

Left back Michel Bastos nearly opened the scoring for Brazil with a powerful left-footed free kick that missed wide in the 51st, and Robinho's strike from outside the box in the 53rd also barely missed.

Striker Luis Fabiano nearly increased the lead in the 63rd after a pass from Robinho. He cleared a defender inside the area but his shot sailed over the crossbar.

Brazil has won all of its opening matches since a 1-1 draw with Sweden in the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.

The five-time champions begin the World Cup with a revamped squad following the disappointing elimination in the quarterfinals of the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Dunga left out stars such as Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Adriano and preferred lesser-known players known for their discipline and hard work.

North Korea is hoping to repeat its heroic campaign from the 1966 tournament in England, when it produced a surprising win over Italy to reach the quarterfinals. The Koreans arrived as most mysterious team in the tournament, with opponents having a hard time finding information about the team playing for the reclusive communist state.
It was the first match between the two nations.

História do futebol ! Football(soccer) history!

Football- Soccer

Football is one of the world's most popular games. It is played in nearly every country, by everyone from kids in vacant lots and back streets to professional players in giant stadiums. Professional football is watched by billions of people all over the world, and is probably the world's most popular spectator sport.

History

The earliest known form of the game was developed in China around 500 B.C. It was known as cuju ('kick-ball') and was played with a leather ball. The object was to kick the ball into a net stretched between two goal-posts. By 800 A.D. there was a well-organized professional league in China, and similar games were also being played in Korea and Japan.

The earliest form of the game that we know of in Europe was played in England around 1100 A.D. It was played between big teams, sometimes whole villages, on a large field, and the ball could be thrown, kicked, or carried towards the opponent's goal. There were very few rules and games were often wild and rough. The game was repeatedly banned by the authorities because of the violence and injuries it caused.

The modern game first developed in England in the 19th century. The Football Association was set up in 1863 and the 'Laws of the Game' were drawn up in the same year. In 1882 the International Football Association Board (IFAB) was formed, and this organization still oversees the rules of the game. Then FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) was founded in 1904 to run international competitions. FIFA still runs the World Cup, as well as regional competitions such as the European and Asian Cups.

How the Game Works

The modern game is played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. Players pass the ball to each other by kicking or heading it, with the aim being to score goals by getting the ball into the opponent's goal. The game lasts for two 45-minute halves, and the team scoring the most goals wins. Draws are common, but if a winner has to be found, a game can go into extra time. If the score is still tied after thirty minutes of extra time, a 'penalty shootout' can decide the winner.

In general play, the goalkeeper is the only player who can touch the ball with the hands or arms. All the other players can kick or head the ball only. Players can tackle an opponent in order to get the ball from them, but must do so without pushing or tripping the player. Pushing and tripping, along with other illegal actions such as 'handball' and 'offside', are fouls that can be penalized with a free kick. If a foul is committed in the penalty area near either goal, the referee can award a penalty kick, meaning a player can have a free shot at goal, with only the goalkeeper being allowed to try to block it. If a player commits a more serious offence, such as dangerous play, the referee can issue a yellow card as a warning, or issue a red card, in which case the player is sent off and cannot be replaced by a substitute. Teams are normally allowed three substitutes, which can be used to replace players because of injury, or for tactical reasons.

História do Futebol : origens

Origens do futebol no Japão Antigo

História do Futebol no Brasil
